Emily Lupita is a watercolor artist and digital illustrator. Her most recent book, I Believe in Seeds: Affirmations for Rewilding, received an Artist Community Gathering Grant from the BeWildReWild Fund at Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. Emily Lupita holds a Bachelor of Arts from Central College and a Master of Fine Arts from Iowa State University.
Emily Lupita’s artwork has been influenced by her childhood in rural Iowa, her Mexican American + Welsh heritage, and experiences in different countries, including Japan, Turkey, Mexico, Wales, and other inspiring places. Emily Lupita formally began painting her signature ‘Portraits of Inner Reality’ series after a dedication ceremony in 2004 while living in Japan, where she had her first solo art show at the prestigious N.A. Gallery. Emily Lupita has since shown her artwork at many shows in the United States including the Octagon Center for the Arts Community Artists Exhibit, the Waterloo Center for the Arts Juried Art Show, and the Quincy Center For the Arts Japanese Art Exhibition, among many others.
Emily Lupita is also a higher education professional. She has previously taught elementary, high school, and college courses, and served as an international educator taking students on study abroad programs around the world. She currently lives between rural Iowa, USA, and Ankara, Turkey.
